Prototype Laminated Baltic Birch Sink
Cameron is interesting in trying new forms of sinks, as well as better methods of construction and resin pouring. Cameron cut one piece at a time on the band saw, flush trimmed to a template on the router table, threaded rod and glue holding everything together, resin shell, aluminum rods through countertop with West Systems Epoxy resin filled voids.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

ECHO Leahy Center
From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Join Generator members at ECHO’s Innovation Playground Exhibit. This exhibit puts a spotlight on the innovation and creative explorations that happens in a makerspace. Adriana Lentrichia, Devin Wilder, Alex Swaisgood, Jean Cherouny, Rob Rock are just some of Generator’s superstars that are featured makers in this exhibit!I’m tickled to announce that after many late nights and forays to Curtis Lumber the Innovation Playgound exhibit opened this past Saturday. After watching families interact with the space for many hours on opening day, I can confidently state this is an incrediblly engaging exhibit. This is ECHO’s first in-house exhibit, and it quite literally would not have been possible without the talent and hard work of our local partners– The EMC at Champlain College, Generator and its maker members, the creators of Will & Whit, and our recycled lamp contest participants.-Nina RidhibhinyoInnovation Playground celebrates lifelong play and its role in sparking technological, social, and artistic innovation in our community. Visitors of all ages will unleash their imaginations, building life-size worlds out of giant blue blocks, exploring virtual galaxies in a cardboard spaceship, and bringing inventions to life in our fully-equipped maker space.
In partnership with Champlain College Emergent Media Center and Generator. Generously sponsored by Hickok and Boardman Insurance Group.
ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is a 501(c) non-profit organization. ECHO’s mission is to educate and delight people about the Ecology, Culture, History, and Opportunities for Stewardship of the Lake Champlain Basin.

UVM BioFabLab needs your feedback!
[vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default”][vc_column_text]UVM BioFabLab needs your feedback! Save the Date: Oct 4 @ 7pm

Nobel laureate Sydney Brenner said, “Progress in science depends on new techniques, new discoveries, and new ideas, probably in that order.”
It’s true; a major part of doing science is coming up with new ways to interrogate the world around us. Even in biology, being able to design, build, and tinker with experimental equipment is a critical skill.
Taking inspiration from Burlington Generator and the Maker movement, UVM’s Biology Department developed BioFabLab, a class for biology majors in which students work in teams to answer real research questions by designing and building experimental equipment. Over the coming months, our students will be spending a lot of time at Generator, learning new skills and interacting with all of you.
In the past, the generous involvement of the Generator community has been essential to our students’ success. So we are asking for your help once
again!A big part of what we hope to teach our students is how to seek out advice to solve technical problems, and how to explain their projects to non-biologists. We will be holding three presentation sessions during the semester where the students will give updates on their progress, and look for feedback. The first is this Wednesday, October 4th at 7pm in the Great Hall at Generator.
We encourage you all to come by and learn about BioFabLab, and hear our students give a chalk talk about their research questions and initial design ideas![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default”][image_with_animation image_url=”4771″ alignment=”” animation=”Fade In” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default”][image_with_animation image_url=”4770″ alignment=”” animation=”Fade In” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
