Allan Miller

Allan is an educator, maker, and lifelong tinkerer who has a hard time walking past a broken object without wondering if he can fix it. As a member of Generator’s Youth Program Staff, he loves helping young people discover that they can be designers, builders, problem-solvers, and makers too.
Before joining Generator, Allan served as the Design Technology Teacher and Makerspace Coordinator at Williston Central School, where students in grades 3–8 turned ideas into reality through woodworking, robotics, coding, 3D printing, laser cutting, and just about anything else they could get their hands on. His career has also included roles as a science and technology teacher, instructional coach, school principal, and teacher educator. Through Fulbright and other international programs, he has had the opportunity to work with teachers and students around the world.
Allan is happiest when there’s something to figure out, build, repair, or improve—and especially when he gets to do that alongside young people. When he isn’t making or teaching, you’ll likely find him biking, skiing, tackling a house project, or heading off on an outdoor adventure with his wife, Joan.
