ZERO VOC Policy

Generator strives to be a Zero VOC Facility. To that end, no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are allowed in common work areas. Members are allowed to use finishes and compounds containing VOC’s outside, weather permitting. If you aren’t sure whether or not something contains VOC’s, please reach out to one of our Facility staff. We are happy to help determine whether something is safe for use in our space.

Please remember that even if something contains zero VOC’s it may still release smells that are unpleasant and irritating to other members. An individual’s sensitivity to odors can vary, so if you are asked by staff member or Shop Lead to stop using a noxious or potentially harmful substance you must comply immediately. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary proceedings which could result in the termination of your membership.

In all cases, you are encouraged to seek out alternatives that do not use VOC’s including hardware and other materials.
