Other Options for Classes & Trainings

Tool Trainings

Generator tool trainings are intended to provide basic skill and safety training on a specific set of tools at Generator. Permission to use tools at Generator is only granted when a member passes the Skill & Safety Assessment provided at the end of each tool training.

NOTE: trainings are not associated with any professional or industry-level certification status, nor is any document issued upon completion.

Non-Members are welcome to take any tool training or class at Generator but will not gain independent access to tools unless they become a Generator member! People must become a Generator member within 45 days of taking a training for the certification to be valid. Members receive a 10% discount on classes as well as access to shops and machines once they complete the appropriate trainings.

Experienced User Assessment (EUA) – $85

If you have prior experience, you may be eligible to test out of a training through a private one-on-one skill & safety assessment with a Generator instructor. Members have the opportunity to show what they know–the instructor will fill in any knowledge gaps and/or Generator-specifics regarding how we use and care for our tools. An Experienced User Assessment is a one-hour training/assessment to be sure you can work all the tools or machines safely and correctly and are able to care for our collaborative space.  If more education is needed to safely use equipment, the instructor will make a recommendation for a private lesson or a group tool training.  Experienced User Assessment may take up to 14 days to schedule.  For more information, please contact
